Normally I don’t like surprises. I like to be in control and have a handle on the situation. There are, however, 3 times that I enjoy surprises.
They would be birthday presents, Christmas presents, and Super Bowl commercials.
Here’s the thing… I’m not a huge sports guy. My family was never big into sports. I was never very good at them and so they didn’t consume much of my life.
I appreciate a good game and am looking forward to seeing the top offense take on the top defense this Sunday. (Just because I’m not a sports nut doesn’t mean I don’t try and keep up with the headlines).
What I look forward to most every Super Bowl Sunday are the commercials.
That’s why I’m asking you to not ruin them for me! Please, stop posting, tweeting, and talking about “leaked” commercials.
That’s like coming up to me and saying, “See those presents under the tree with your name on them? That’s a new Samsung Note 3. That one there is a Google Play Gift Card and if I remember right this one is a new ISU Cyclone Polo.”
Knowing details about the commercials or seeing them in advance makes game day anti-climactic… just as if I could travel into the future and come back with the score. I could tell you the outcome and you’d still watch but it just wouldn’t be as fun.
Once kick-off happens and the commercials have aired it’s game on… literally! Take to every social media outlet there is and talk all you want about the them. That’s cool! I love the immediacy and the sense of community it brings. The Grammy’s were definitely more fun this year following a bunch of people that were live tweeting.
So, what do you think? Can you accommodate this simple request?
