Free eBooks & Audio Books

I’m falling short on the amount of books that I wanted to read this year.  To change that I decided to look into audio books.  I figured that would be another good use of the 80 minutes I spend commuting each day.

There are lots of places online where you can buy audio books but my wife and I are working to get out of debt so that really wasn’t an option.  I decided to ask our local librarian if our library had audio books that could be checked out online.

It did.  Awesome!  A free hook up for audio books!  Our librarian emailed me my patron number and a getting started guide.

I downloaded the OverDrive app from the Google Play Store to my Android phone since I wanted to be able to listen on the go.  That done, I set up an account and added our library’s details into the app.

That was it.  In a matter of minutes I was set up and looking for audio books that interested me.  There were plenty.  A few minutes later Heaven Is For Real was downloaded and on my phone ready to listen to.  I added myself to the waiting list on several other books I wanted to listen to.

You can even use the app to check out eBooks.  What a convenient way to have access to free books.  You don’t have to worry about late fees either.  When your time is up on a book it removes itself from your device.
