App Review: Prisma

It seems like photo editing and photo filter apps are a dime a dozen. I have several on my phone right now… so it’s really hard to get excited when a new one pops up.  But I’ve found one that I think is really cool.

I can’t take the credit for finding it.  A forum friend of mine first posted about it. Normally I don’t get too excited about a photo app but I trusted his opinion and liked the examples he shared.

The app is called Prisma and it’s available for free for both Android and iDevices.

According to their website, Prisma: “Transforms your photos into works of art using the styles of famous artists: Van Gogh, Picasso, Levitan, as well as world famous ornaments and patterns. A unique combination of neural networks and artificial intelligence helps you turn memorable moments into timeless art pieces.”

I’ve played around with the app and the results are pretty cool. There have been a few app updates over the time that I’ve used it.

At first, the time to apply each filter was unbearable.  Too slow for me to recommend.

Fortunately, the speed had gotten better with each update. Enough so that I can suggest to you to give it a try.

To show you what the app can do I made a few samples.
