Why Memory Monday?

Pretty much every Monday for more than a year I’ve been sharing a Memory Monday post here on my blog.  Maybe you’ve read a few and wondered why I do it.  Here are a few reasons why:

  1. I love Memory Monday because it takes me back to the memorable moments in my life.  I find it relaxing to spend my Monday evening commute in silence focusing on a specific memory.
  2. I write them for my kids.  It gives them a sense of my past.  Several times they’ve read a Memory Monday post and said, “I never knew that,” or “you’ve never told us that story before.”  It’s also a way for me to share with them stories about Great Grandparents that they never knew.
  3. I write them so my readers can get to know me better.  My memories played a big part in making me who I am today.
  4. I write them to get others to think about their memories.  Nothing makes me happier than knowing one of my memories spurred a recollection for someone else.

Those are just a few reasons why I’ve continued sharing a different memory every Monday.  They’re not likely to stop anytime soon, either.  I’ve got a long list ready to share! 🙂

If you were going to write your own Memory Monday post today what memory would you write about?
