It’s no secret. I’m a George Strait fan. I’m a little bummed that he’s done touring but feel fortunate that we had great seats for his last stop in Iowa.
While George Strait may be done touring he’s definitely not done putting out great music. That’s evident in his latest song to hit the radio: Cold Beer Conversation.
There is so much that I love about this song!
First, it’s got a traditional country sound to it. There’s no autotune and it’s certainly not overproduced. You can even pick out the steel guitar that’s non-existent in most of today’s country music.
Second, the vocals! George Strait doesn’t miss a beat. He still sounds great.
The other thing I love about this song is how it’s made me think and reflect. If there’s one area of my life that’s been neglected over the past few years it’s my friendships with my buddies.
I’ve been so busy getting my girls to ball practices, dance rehearsals, and everything else they’re into that I haven’t had much time for anything else.
Don’t get me wrong… I love my life, my family, and our crazy schedule but this song has me wanting a little down time with some of my guy friends. A chance to talk about anything, everything, or nothing at all.
It doesn’t even need to be over a few beers… a small men’s group Bible study would work too! That’s one of my goals I’m already planning on for 2016.What's your favorite George Strait song? Click To Tweet
Just for fun… here’s a picture of the first time I met George Strait. It was on his tour bus back in 1994 before his show at the Iowa State Fair.
