Dreaming Of A Summer Off

I’ll admit that I’m a little jealous of my kids.  They’ve got the whole Summer break to have fun!   I’ve written before about what I’d do if I was given an adult snow day.  Today I dreamed a little about what I’d do if I had the Summer off.

To be honest I’d probably spend the first week being entirely too lazy. Then boredom (and guilt for wasting time) would kick in and I’d need to find something to do.  There’s lots of little projects that I’d like to accomplish around the yard and house but after that what would I do?

I thought about it and decided that I’d like to learn a new skill.  I think I’d like to learn how to play the guitar.  If I spent a couple hours each day learning and practicing chances are that by Summer’s end I’d have the basics down.

Sure, I wouldn’t be anywhere near Eric Clapton or Eddie Van Halen status but I bet I’d know most of the chords and could play a few songs.  Maybe even write some of my own songs.

Take a moment and dream about it yourself.  What would you do if you had the Summer off with no demands on your time?   What new skill would you like to learn?  Leave a comment and let me know.

  1. I’d spend my first week similar to you probably being lazy, then feeling guilt and boredom. The new skill I would like to learn is how to speak Spanish. I received some software for Christmas but haven’t done much with it. This summer I should try a couple hours a week!
