Memory Monday – Song Lyrics

I’ve always had a pretty good knack for remembering song lyrics. It’s something that’s just come natural… but there was one song that tripped me up when I was a kid.

When I was 9 or 10 I practically wore out our 8 track containing this song trying to commit the lyrics to memory.  It wasn’t easy because it’s a fast paced song but I eventually got it.

Today… more than 30 years later I still remember them.  I proved it to myself this afternoon when I played the song on the radio.

With the studio door shut and the volume cranked I sang along like a little kid.   Like little kid proud of the accomplishment of having just mastered all the lyrics.

So what was the song?  It’s “The Devil Went Down To Georgia” by the Charlie Daniels Band.  I bet you know it… but do you know all the words?

  1. I was just commenting to Chris the other day that I can’t remember what happened yesterday but I can remember lyrics to most of the songs from the 70’s. What’s up with that? 🙂
