Year #1: This Blog’s Highlights

Whoo hoo!  It’s time to celebrate!  Today marks the one year anniversary for this blog.  I’m glad you stopped by because you helped in what I consider a successful first year.

I thought I’d share some site stats with you.  I’m not sharing them to brag.  Heck, you might not even be impressed with them… but they made me happy.

I’m sharing them for all the faithful readers.  The ones who have joined me on this journey over the past year.   I wanted you to know what you were a part of.

The site was about a month old before I got Google Analytics set up but we’ll just go ahead and say these stats are for the first year.

Nearly 9,000 different users checked out the site a little more than 14,000 times.  That added up to more than 40,000 page views.

Readers from every state in the United States dropped by as well as 85 other countries from around the world!

It always amazes me how global the internet is.  I’ve often said to myself, “How does someone from El Salvador or Macedonia end up on an Iowa guy’s blog site?”

The answer is usually a simple Google search, Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest.

What were the most popular posts of the 303 blog posts from the past year?

Dance Dad 101 was the most viewed.  This was helped by Dream Duffel sharing it on their Facebook page.  What a thrill it was to see over 100 people on the site at one time reading what I had to say!

Other popular posts were:

A Class Act

Freezer Mashed Potatoes

My Over The Edge Experience

Another Random Act Of Kindness

God’s Not Through With Me Yet

A Town Working Together

The Perfect Sound

Spending or Investing

Remembering Lucile

Something In The Water

Freezer Breakfast Burritos

Other highlights for me were getting re-tweets from financial radio host Dave Ramsey and Christian singer Matthew West.

I want to thank you for the support.  Every comment, like, or share on Facebook was greatly appreciated.  Every tweet and re-tweet made me smile.  All the times I got a call, text, or stopped with words of encouragement mean more than you know.

You helped get the word out about this blog and I really appreciate it!

I can’t wait to see what the next year will hold.  I’ve set goals for myself and have some big plans.

One of which is to open up my blog for guest posters.  If you’ve got a story to tell that touches on the topics or faith, family, or technology I’d love to let you share it here.  If that interests you let me know.

So, thanks again!  What was your favorite post from the first year?
