I’m Not Who I Was

Today I was asked my opinion of someone I used to work with.  I didn’t know quite how to answer.  It had been 15 years or so since we’d worked together.

Back then I could’ve given a definite answer.  An answer that wouldn’t have been exactly flattering… but that was then.  I don’t know who this person is today and how they’ve changed.

So this was my response, “It’s been 15 years, so all I really could give you is an opinion of who they were.  They could be someone totally different today.  I’m not who I was 15 years ago… and I certainly don’t wanted to be judged on who I was back then.”

I pray that I'm always improving... as a husband, father, friend... as a person. Click To Tweet

That answer seemed to suffice but the conversation stuck with me for awhile.  It reminded me of a great Brandon Heath song, “I’m Not Who I Was”.

Are you the same person you were 15 years ago… or even 5 years ago? How have you changed?
