I was in the mood for loaded nachos and after surveying our freezer and pantry realized we had everything we needed to make them… with the exception of one thing. We were lacking a taco seasoning packet.
Not to be discouraged… I decided to try and make my own taco seasoning. It was a first for me and it turned out great! Here’s what I used:
- 1 Tbsp Mild Chili Powder
- 1/2 Tbsp Cumin
- 3/4 tsp Paprika
- 3/4 tsp Salt
- 1/4 tsp Black Pepper
- 1/4 tsp Ground Oregano
- 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/4 tsp Onion Powder
I mixed all the spices in a custard cup and then added it to 1 pound of browned hamburger. Next, 2/3 cup water was stirred in.
This mixture then simmered over medium-high heat until most of the liquid cooked off.
It was perfect for nachos… but would also be great for tacos or quesadillas.
