Recently, Fareway, one of my favorite grocery stores had a fantastic deal on cauliflower; only 88 cents. I originally picked up two heads thinking I’d try mashed cauliflower for the first time.
The plan was to grill up 10 pounds of chicken legs (another great Fareway deal) to have with the mashed cauliflower. When it came time to grill/cook I didn’t have that much energy so I thought I’d try something different. Something easier. That’s when I settled on this.
Easy Grilled Cauliflower
As the name implies this really is easy.

1 head cauliflower, washed with the leaves and stem removed
2-3 tablespoons butter
3/4 cup shredded cheese
What you do:
Put down one or two sheets of tin foil. Rub the butter all over the cauliflower and then sprinkle with seasoning salt. Rub the cheese all over and then wrap the cauliflower in tin foil. Grill over medium heat for 40-50 minutes. You can test the doneness by sticking a knife through the foil.
You can watch the process in this video. Then check out a few of my comments and thoughts that didn’t make the video.
Don’t be afraid to go heavy on the seasoning. I thought I was overdoing in the video but we ended up adding additional seasoning salt at the table. Turns out there is a lot of cauliflower the seasoning doesn’t touch.
Speaking of seasoning… you could mix it up with some of your favorites. Garlic, onion salt, dill weed, lemon salt, Italian seasoning… I think these would all taste great.
I used Colby-Jack cheese and it was good but the flavor was so mild it kind of got lost. Next time I’ll use a stronger flavored cheese. Parmesan would probably work great.
As far as the effort to outcome ratios… this is one of the easiest, best-tasting recipes/recipe ideas there is. Give it a try and let me know what you think.
Thanks to my oldest daughter for her awesome camera work making the video above possible.
