One of the things I love most about the Bible is how I can start out looking for scriptures relating to one topic but by the time I’m done I’ve ended up in a slightly different direction.
When that happens I usually stumble upon a scripture that really speaks to me at that moment. That’s what happened tonight!
This week I’m really feeling grateful for family and friends so I set out to find a verse to share about being grateful or thankful.
The ones I found were all good but they just didn’t grab me. That’s when I came across Ecclesiastes 7:14 (MSG). It did.

“On a good day, enjoy yourself;
On a bad day, examine your conscience.
God arranges for both kinds of days
So that we won’t take anything for granted.”
I like the simplicity of this verse and how relatable it is. We all have both good and bad days.
I also like that it’s a reminder that God is ultimately in control. Not me. Something that’s always good to remember.
Ever start out looking for something in the Bible and end up in a different direction?
