Weekly Verse – God’s Protection

Ever have something happen to you that could have ended badly… but turned out OK?  Where you thought to yourself that you had someone looking out for you?  A guardian angel perhaps.

It happened to me tonight and I’m not really sure how or why it happened.  For whatever reason, on my commute home my mind started to wander.

Could’ve been my car’s failing AC blowing on high trying to keep up against the outside heat or the relaxing delivery of the podcast announcer I was listening to… but I just zoned out.  Hypnotized almost.

I was abruptly snapped out of it by the flash of brake lights.

Fortunately, they were quite aways ahead of me, and I safely snapped back to reality before causing any harm to myself or anyone else.  With adrenaline suddenly pumping through my veins and my heart pounding in my chest I offered up a quick prayer of thanks.

This incident was a reminder to me just how easy it is to lose your focus if you aren’t careful.  It was also a reminder that God’s got my back wherever I go.

He’s got your back too… as written in Psalm 121:7-8(NIV).

The Lord will keep you from all harm—
    he will watch over your life;
 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.
