It’s that time of year when I, like a lot of you, pause and reflect on everything there is to be thankful for. I’ve shared some of those things before… and will probably have another list to share soon.
I recently asked a simple question on my Facebook page: It’s not Thanksgiving without_____________________?
The answers you’d expect were quickly given; turkey, pumpkin pie, and green bean casserole.
Among the food responses was another one I expected: family.
As I prepare to spend a week thinking about everything I’m thankful for I already know “family” will be at the top of my list… right after God… who makes all things possible.
This week’s verse has a “thankful” theme and is a favorite of mine. It’s 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.
Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live.
Be cheerful. Pray. Thank God. No matter what. Seems like a pretty good plan to follow and a great way to live your life… although I’ll have to admit that there are times when I need to work on the “no matter what” part.
