Weekly Verse – Fools

Wednesday nights lately have been some of my favorite nights.  It’s when my wife works late and my oldest daughter is at dance.  That leaves my youngest and I with a couple hours together.

Tonight, as I sat her black bean quesadilla down on the table she said, “Are you blogging about a Bible verse tonight?”

I told her I was and asked if she had any suggestions. “Hold on,” she said leaving the table.  She return a few seconds later with her pink Girls Life Application Study Bible. “Let’s find one together!”

So instead of sitting across from each other we sat side-by-side with her Bible between us eating supper, reading, and talking about verses.  We bookmarked a few eventually ending up in Proverbs.

There were several verses there that made her laugh. “How about this one,” she giggled and began to read Proverbs 14:7 out loud.

“Stay away from fools, for you won’t find knowledge on their lips.”

“Does that mean you should stay away from silly boys?” I asked.

“I think so,” she said and smiled. “Use that one tonight!”

I think she appreciated the simplicity of the verse.  Even a 10 year can recognize a foolishness and know you won’t learn much from a fool.

So, there you have it.  That’s how, together, we came up with this week’s Bible verse.  It was a fun time and we both left the table saying we should do it again next week.
