Weekly Verse – Distractions

Some distractions are just that… distractions.  They keep you from focusing on what’s important.  Other times distractions are actually welcomed.

In the midst of a crazy (and nasty) political season I was ready for a distraction.  Fortunately, two distractions came at just the right moment.

For the past week the national focus has been on the Olympics.  It’s been refreshing to hear and see positive stories of athletes overcoming the odds to make it to Rio.  It’s also been cool to see the good sportsmanship shared between countries.

The other distraction for the next week is the Iowa State Fair.  It’s always a fun and busy time… both at home and work.  I love the fair and I love seeing pictures of friends and family enjoying the sights, sounds, and food and the fair.

The Olympics and Iowa State Fair have been good distractions… but this week I decided to share a few Bible verses that speak to those unwelcome distractions.  Proverbs 4:25-27(NLT) reminds us to stay focused.

Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you.  Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path.  Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.
