Tonight when I picked my youngest up from the weekly programming at Church I asked her what her favorite Bible verse was. I told her I might use it for the verse of the week.
She said Philippians 4:13.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
It’s a great verse and I’m glad it’s a favorite of hers but I told her that I’d already used that one this year.
“How about you do the 10 commandments?” she asked. “That’s what we were learning about tonight.”
I wasn’t prepared to tackle all 10 in one post so I asked her which commandment was her favorite. She said it was the 10th one. I had her tell me which one it was… curious to see what she remembered from the evening.
“It’s the one that says to be happy with what you have and not want what your friends have,” was her reply.
“That’s a perfect one for the weekly verse,” I told her. “It’s especially good to keep in mind as we head towards Christmas time.”
She even had the verse on a poster they made tonight.
Exodus 20:17 (MSG)
“No lusting after your neighbor’s house – or wife or servant maid or ox or donkey. Don’t set your heart on anything that is your neighbor’s.”
If you had to choose, which of the 10 commandments would be your favorite?
