Words are extremely powerful! They have the ability to encourage and empower. They can also distract and destroy.
Once words are out there there is no getting them back. That’s why it’s important to choose your words wisely.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re talking about others… or you’re talking about yourself you need to watch what you say.
That thought is found in this week’s Bible verse, Ephesians 4:29 (MSG).
“Watch the way you talk. Let nothing foul or dirty come out of your mouth. Say only what helps, each word a gift.”
For me the main take-away from that verse is in the four words, “say only what helps”.
If everyone followed that rule (myself included) I think the world would be a better place. It would certainly make political season a lot more tolerable.
How long do you think you could go by only “saying what helps”?
