Carrie Underwood – Something In The Water

I love country music!  Sure it has it’s share of beer fueled, hell raising songs… but it also has songs that make you think, songs for reminiscing, songs about the good times, and songs that tell a story.

There are also songs in country music that share Christian messages. I like that a lot.

That’s one of the reasons I love the new Carrie Underwood song “Something In The Water”.  It’s message isn’t, pardon the bad pun, watered down.  There’s no doubt what Carrie believes when she sings lyrics like these:

Throughout her 10 year career (yes, it’s been a decade since she auditioned for American Idol) Carrie Underwood has shared songs of faith.

Jesus Take The Wheel is a great song with a powerful message.

Her version of one of my favorite hymns is outstanding!

And now her new song “Something In The Water” became an instant favorite of mine.  There’s no doubt in my mind that it will be her 19th #1.

It really makes me look forward to her next album, Greatest Hits: Decade #1, that comes out December 9th.

  1. Dear Lord, this girl can sing and make you believe every word she sings. She sings the new song with happiness, conviction, joy and her love of God. The lyrics are somewhat of the old country gospel songs and some roots sound, modern country as well. Well written and I do not think anyone can sing this song any better than Ms. Underwood. Not only does this girl talk the talk but she walks the walk of her christian faith every day. I have to say that I do not think there is a better ambassador for Country music than Ms. Underwood. I do not like the kind of songs on the country stations today and this song is like a breath of fresh air sung by an angelic voice. Bought the song and am thoroughly enjoying it.

    1. Thanks for the comment, ghostwriter. Have you seen her in concert before? That’s where you can really tell how talented she is. Hopefully this song is a mega hit that leads other country artists to sing songs of faith.

  2. Sad to say I have not seen her in concert but when she comes to my area or when I am in another city and she is there I am going to make a point to go and see her. I have enjoyed her rendition of How Great Thou Art with Vince Gill and have played it many times. From what I have read on Ms. Underwood–she is the real deal with exceptional personal and work ethics and is very good in giving back to others less fortunate. I think the world needs more Ms. Underwoods right now.
