500 Posts & 15 Of My Favorites

This post reaches a milestone for me.  It’s the 500th one that I’ve shared since starting this blog on December 7, 2013.  Whether this is the first one you’ve read, your 50th, or your 500th (I know there are a few who have been loyal readers since the beginning) I want to thank you!

Thanks for allowing me to have a few moments of your precious time.  My hope is that along the way you’ve found a few laughs, maybe learned a thing or two, got encouragement, or maybe took a trip down memory lane.

For this 500th post I thought I’d go back and share with you some of my favorite things that I’ve written.

15 Of My Favorite Blog Posts

Dance Dads 101 – This got me my first taste of how when the right pieces come together a post can really take off on social media.  It’s my most viewed post to date and one I’m really proud of.  I think it has the right mix of humor and practical advice.

My “Over The Edge” Experience – I like this one for a couple of reasons.  One being that it supported a great cause: Special Olympics Iowa.  It also is something that pushed me out of my comfort zone.  If I didn’t have this blog to share my experience I might have chickened out.  Stay tuned… I may be doing this again in September.

God’s Not Through With Me Yet – This is a special story.  One that I can’t really take the credit for.  It’s a story of a man I, and many people, admire.  I just got to retell it.  Gordon is the type of man I strive to be. A soft spoken, well respected, man of God.  He sets a very good example.

Weekly Verse – I’ve shared 73 of these and I really couldn’t pick a favorite.  Each came from a situation in my life or something I saw happening in the world.  Searching for a verse that speaks to me each week is one of my favorite things about blogging.

Freezer Mashed Potatoes & Freezer Breakfast Burritos – I’m lumping these together.  They’re family favorites.  They also happen to be two of the most pinned things from this blog on Pinterest.

Another Random Act Of Kindness – It’s just one of those memories that makes me smile.

The Perfect Sound – I like this one because I wrote the first draft in my mind as I was waking up; half awake, half asleep.  It’s a scene that plays out almost every weekend at our house.

Christmas Traditions: My Daughter’s View – This was the first time my oldest daughter was a guest blogger on this site. She’s contributed a couple more times (and has something planned she’ll be sharing soon) but this first one will always be special to me.

4th Graders Support Earth Hour – This is a favorite because it’s the first time my youngest daughter got featured here.  I’ll never forget how proud she was when she hit the “publish” button.

Spending or Investing – This is one I return to every once in awhile. It’s a good reminder to keep my priorities straight.

Remembering Lucile – Lucile was a special lady to our family.  I think I’ll always go back and revisit this post on St. Patrick’s Day to remember her.

Mystery Sack Recap – Competing in this competition at the Iowa State Fair is something I had wanted to do for awhile.  It was a blast! I’m already thinking about what I could do to place higher this year.

Caught Off Guard – This situation came out of nowhere and I still think about it from time to time.  The guy was right.  I really do have a lot to be thankful for!

Product Review: Yeti Rambler Colster – This is a recent favorite.  I liked it because it gave me a chance to get my oldest daughter involved on the blog again.  Plus, it was a really fun experiment to do.

You Gotta Start Somewhere – While I don’t feel this is the best thing I’ve ever written it’s probably the most important.  It’s my first post.  It started me on this blogging journey.  Without this  first one none of the other 499 would have happened!

Thanks again for reading and allowing me to share my thoughts with you!

I’d also like to thank my wife and daughters.  Without their love and support I wouldn’t be able to do this.

Do you have a favorite blog post of mine that I missed? If so, which one is it?

    1. Thanks so much! Blogging is a lot of fun… and I’ve recently discovered how much fun it is to connect with other bloggers like yourself!
