High Tech Kid’s Artwork

I’ve written before about different ways you can get creative with your Android smartphone home screens.  Today I offer up another tip that parents and grandparents will especially like… and it’ll work for your home computer too.

The tip is to turn your child’s or grand child’s artwork into wallpaper for your phone or computer screen.  I got the idea when I saw a watercolor painting that my youngest brought home from school.  It looked really neat so I took a picture of it.

Here’s the picture I took of it:

And here’s how it looks as the wallpaper on my Samsung Galaxy S3:

Kind of cool but what was even cooler was the pride I saw on my daughter’s face when she saw her artwork on her Daddy’s phone.

What kinds of pictures or images do you like to use for wallpapers?

What’s Next?

As my blog slowly continues to evolve and grow I’m starting to ask myself, “What’s next?  Where do I go from here?”  Obviously, I want to keep blogging. It’s been a great outlet for me but I’ve been starting to wonder if I could branch out.

Given my more than two decades in radio and my love of podcasts starting my own podcast seems like the next logical step.  So, I’ve been researching what it would take to make it happen;  equipment I would need, time commitments, and lots of other little things.

There’s a lot to take in and learn but it certainly seems doable… yet I’m hesitant, although I’m not exactly sure why.  Perhaps it’s a fear of failure.   Starting something and then not being able to follow through would drive me crazy.  Having said that I’d hate to look back years from now wondering “what might have been.”

As I’ve been hashing out “should I, could I, and how would I” there’s one quote from Arthur Ashe that keeps pushing me towards taking the leap:

“Start where you are.  Use what you have.  Do what you can.”

Although I’m not ready to commit to starting a podcast it is my next short-term goal.  That’s why I’m learning all I can and I’m asking for your input. Would you be interested in a 15 – 30 minute weekly podcast that complements this blog?  What kinds of things would you like to hear? I’ve got my own ideas but as a reader I value your thoughts. Send me an email (tony@faithfamilyandtechnology.com) or leave a comment.  I’d love to hear what you have to say.

Before Everything Became Automatic

I grew up in the 70’s & 80’s so I can appreciate how far technology has come.  I remember getting our first microwave and VCR.  My “boom box” was a prized possession.  It had duel cassette decks perfect for recording my favorite songs off the radio and making copies of them.

Gadgets and technology are my thing… but I’m old enough to remember a time when technology didn’t rule all our lives.  That’s probably why Miranda Lambert’s song Automatic has become an instant favorite of mine.  It’s a song that I can really relate to.

As much as I’d hate to give up my Android phone, Nexus tablet, computer, and all things tech… there’s a part of me that really wouldn’t mind.

Is a there a part of you that secretly wishes we could go back to a time before everything became “Automatic”?
